Introducing the Arkansas Intellectual Freedom Helpline
In partnership with the Arkansas Library Association, Arkansas Right to Read Project announces the launch of the Arkansas Intellectual Freedom Helpline. This confidential tool serves to connect Arkansas librarians facing censorship and First Amendment challenges with trained volunteers who can provide support and assist with navigating difficult circumstances.
Intellectual Freedom Helplines have been implemented in several states in an effort to preserve intellectual freedom, protect First Amendment rights, and strengthen support for librarians across the nation. Librarians or library workers experiencing intellectual freedom issues including book challenges, first amendment audits, privacy infringements or other problems related to intellectual freedom may use this link to report those issues and receive support. Reports can be made anonymously, and information shared with the Helpline will remain confidential.
The Arkansas IF Helpline is intended to convey general information only and not to provide legal advice or opinions. Information received should not be construed as, and should not be relied upon for, legal advice in any particular circumstance or fact situation. The information may not reflect the most current legal developments. An attorney should be contacted for advice on specific legal issues.
