An amendment to HB1127 in the Arkansas legislature seeks to prevent our public libraries from being able to associate in any way with the oldest professional organization in the country and the source of thousands and thousands of dollars in grant funding for Arkansas libraries and communities, the American Library Association.
Communities across the state benefit from grants from this organization. Just a few examples:
- Alma got $10,000 for ADA accessibility.
- Charleston got $17,000 for coding programs.
- Southeast Arkansas got $13,000 for a permanent storywalk.
- Calhoun County got $3,000 for homeschool materials and $2,000 for public laptops.
- Saline County got $5,000.
- And nearly every county and city in Arkansas saves thousands through E-rate funding.
Help save the Arkansas libraries you know and love by urging your representatives to reject this expensive and unconstitutional overreach.
